It's okay to mourn what was lost.

There are many things we mourn in this life: the loss of a loved one, the old version of you, the life we once had.. Grief isn't a hurdle to get over or a phase to move through. Grief lives in your chest, and we learn to move through life with it. A dark companion who whispers to you during those silent nights, when the party ends and you're all alone.
Once we learn to accept the dark friend, a strange sense of peace washes over. You find out that it is possible to love and grieve, to feel joy and still mourn what was lost. Because if it wasn't important, your soul wouldn't cling to that version or that person.
You honor these feelings by not shoving them down just to rid of them quicker. Instead, you create space for those emotions.
Go somewhere and find a safe spot to feel without placing logic over your emotions. Embrace the heartache, even if it's "embarrassing."
If you can sit with yourself and fall apart for 10 minutes, then you're on the right track in unraveling your pain.
It's okay to mourn what was lost.
